Enrollment Requirements for Our Online High School
Age 14-21
Students must be between the ages of 14-21 at the time of enrollment to be eligible for our program.
Michigan Resident
Students must live in Michigan to be eligible to enroll and can reside in any district statewide.
Enrollment Forms & Documents
Students must complete district enrollment forms and provide documentation, such as proof of identity and Michigan residency. An MCA advisor will give families a list of required documents and help with the submission process.

Is Michigan Cyber Academy free?
Yes. Michigan Cyber Academy (MCA) is a tuition-free public online high school available to Michigan students ages 14–21 who meet the enrollment requirements. Because MCA is part of the state’s public education system, there are no tuition costs for families — enrollment, classes, and teacher support are provided at no charge.
Who can enroll in MCA?
Enrollment is open to Michigan residents ages 14–21. Students must maintain Michigan residency throughout enrollment. Students must complete enrollment forms and provide the necessary documentation, such as proof of Michigan residency and age. An MCA advisor will explain which documents are required and guide families through submitting them.
How does Michigan Cyber Academy work?
MCA is a 100% online high school. Students complete assignments, quizzes, and exams on the learning platform. Teachers grade work, provide feedback, and stay connected with students and parents through email, text, or virtual meetings. Each student follows a personalized plan and gets guidance from both teachers and advisors to stay on track for graduation.
Do students have to be online at certain times?
No. MCA is a fully online, flexible program. Students are scheduled into four classes at a time and can work on one subject or spread their time across all four. They are free to log in and complete coursework whenever it fits their schedule. To stay on track, students should expect to spend 15–25 hours per week on schoolwork.
How fast can a student graduate from MCA?
Graduation speed depends on the student. Because MCA is self-paced, students who move quickly through courses may be able to graduate faster. At the same time, students who need extra time in certain subjects are able to work at a steady pace without falling behind. Advisors create a personalized graduation plan so every student knows what is needed to earn a diploma.
How does graduation work at MCA?
Graduates earn a Michigan

— not a GED. This diploma is fully recognized by colleges, training programs, and employers. When all credit requirements are met, students are invited to participate in an
online graduation ceremony to celebrate with classmates, families, and staff.

How to Enroll in Our Self Paced, Online High School

Begin Application
Begin by filling out the online enrollment form. This provides MCA with the basic student and family information needed to open your file and start building your graduation plan. If available, include a copy of your transcripts to expedite the process.

Work with Advisor
After your application is submitted, an enrollment advisor will contact you. They’ll explain next steps, provide a list of required documents (such as proof of identity and Michigan residency), and guide you through completing everything correctly.
3.
Path to Graduation!
Once your forms and documents are submitted, MCA will review them to confirm eligibility. After approval, you’ll receive your enrollment confirmation, login information, and graduation plan. You then can login and begin classes toward your high school diploma!
